COVID Changes

  • Recycling stops at 5:00PM Monday-Saturday.
  • We no longer accept any recycling through the front door. So leave it in your vehicle and come in the front door without any recycling and let us know what you have. We’ll direct where to go with it.
  • We can no longer offer any assistance in unloading any recycling you may have. If you will require help removing anything from your vehicle, please bring it with you as we cannot help you.
  • These are temporary and are subject to change as we move towards Phase 5 of Re-Opening Illinois.
  • We no longer offer any assistance unloading items from your vehicle. If you’ll need help unloading recycling from your vehicle you will have to bring that help with you.

BLH Computers Inc. is your number one source for recycling electronics in Illinois. We are the largest computer recycling facility in the area with a 20,000 sq. ft. facility. We are a NAID member and E-Stewards Certified so you can be sure anything with data that gets recycled with us is completely destroyed. Each year our recycling service processes over 5 million pounds of recycling. You can rely on our environmentally responsible facility to easily handle all of your computer and electronic recycling needs. We also provide computer repair services such as virus removal and computer screen replacements. We also sell workstation/business grade laptops and desktops that we guarantee for the life of the machine.

Residential Recycling

  • Drop Offs: For all customers it is requested that you call and check with a store location near you prior to bringing in your recycling so we can verify what you have and what our current policies are. We do accept drop-off’s from 8:00AM to 5:00PM Monday-Friday and 10:00AM to 5:00PM On Saturdays. Residents can come by anytime during store hours before 5:00PM without any appointment.
  • Pick Ups: We do not offer any residential pick up service, sorry for any inconvenience. If you are a business and would like to schedule a pickup, please see ‘Business Recycling’ below.

Recycling with a fee

Certain items we can recycle but have a fee in order to do so. These items include:
      • CRT Monitors – $10
      • LCD Monitors – $10*
      • CRT Televisions – $20
      • Flat-screen Televisions – $20
      • Projection Televisions – $40
      • Console Television – $40
      BLH Computers has a recycling program with the following area’s:
      • Christian County – All items free, no fees for any electronic recycling, no limits.
      • City of Springfield – 3 TV’s or Monitors are covered per household per calendar year, everything else is free anyways
      • New recycling policy starting January 2020, there will be a $10 recycling fee for all LCD monitors unless you live a participating area(City of Springfield/Christian County)
    • NOTE: The Jacksonville store can only accept CRT devices with a screen size 27 inches diagonally or less. No restrictions for flat-screen tv’s.¬†Unaccepted items can be taken to our Springfield location. Same fees and guidelines apply.
  • BLH Taylorville is unable to assist with carrying in recycling. If you require help please bring it with you.

Business Recycling:

  • Drop Offs: Business’¬†MUST call or email us to schedule an appointment time prior to any drop-off’s. We cannot accept random walk-in business recycling without a prior appointment.
  • Pick Ups: We do offer pick-ups for Business Accounts for a Fee. Please contact us to discuss the pick-up fee, obtain an inbound service order number, and to schedule a convenient time for drop-off or pick-up. You may send an email to Recycling@blhcomputers.com or call our Springfield Store (217) 585-1580 and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Costs: Business’ do NOT qualify for the Free Residential Recycling program. Rates vary per item types(CRT’s/Mixed Electronics/etc), please call or email us to verify any recycling costs.

    • Carbon Monoxide/Smoke detectors
    • CDs and DVDs
    • Dehumidifiers
    • Gas Powered Tools
    • General rubbish
    • Glass, Christmas Light Bulbs, etc
    • Lamps/Light bulbs
    • Lava Lamps
    • Live ammunition
    • Mercury Thermometers
    • Microwaves, toasters, and other small kitchen appliances
    • Needles of any sort
    • Pre-lit Christmas trees
    • Pressurized canisters of any kind
    • Refrigerators, stoves, and other large appliances
    • Software
    • Thermostats
    • Toys
    • Vacuum and floor cleaners
