Recycling with a Fee

Some electronics require a fee for recycling due to hazardous materials

Special Recycling Programs

These programs are sponsored by local governments, allowing residents to recycle TVs and monitors free of charge.
Residency verification is required to qualify for these programs.

Christian County, IL

Residents with a valid photo ID or driver’s license can recycle all accepted items free of charge, with no limits on quantity* or type.

*Note: A 12+ Large-item limit per day still applies

Springfield, IL

Residents can recycle up to 3 TVs or monitors per household, per calendar year, for free. To qualify, residents must present a valid photo ID or driver’s license and a current CWLP bill showing a ‘Waste and Recycling’ fee.

Jacksonville, IL

Residents can recycle up to 2 TVs or monitors per household, per calendar year, for free. A valid photo ID or driver’s license is required to qualify.

These programs reflect our commitment to making recycling accessible and convenient for our community. If your area doesn’t have a recycling program, we encourage you to contact your local city or county office to inquire about joining our Takeback Program. Together, we can expand these valuable services and contribute to a more sustainable future.

  • Kitchen or Bathroom items
  • Appliances
  • Adhesives, Paints, Chemicals of any kind
  • Aerosol cans
  • Alkaline Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, etc…)
  • Audio and Video Media (8Track/LaserDisc/Cassette/VHS/CD/DVD/HD-DVD/BluRay)
  • Bathroom devices (ie. electric razors, toothbrushes, etc.)
  • Carbon Monoxide/Smoke detectors
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Gas Powered Tools
  • General rubbish
  • Glass
  • Lamps/Light bulbs and Lava Lamps
  • Live ammunition
  • Mercury Thermometers
  • Microwaves, toasters, and other small kitchen appliances
  • Needles of any sort
  • Pre-lit Christmas trees
  • Pressurized canisters of any kind
  • Refrigerators, stoves, and other large appliances
  • Thermostats
  • Toys
  • Vacuum and floor cleaners
